For SEO purposes (and because it’s true):
Jonel is a seasoned visual designer who people trust to get shit done.

I wear a lot of hats—and I’m good at knowing which one to put on when.

I’m a creative thinker, designer, illustrator, copywriter, and writer who likes to shift gears as the work calls for it. There’s a strong chance—roughly 74%—that Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign are all open on my laptop right now.

In the summer of 2025, I accepted the role of Creative Strategist for my alma mater, the University of Memphis, where I help drive creative direction for the University’s brand. My work spans large-scale and highly visible projects, including the University’s recent rebrand, the environmental redesign of the Wilder Tower lobby, and providing design and art direction for flagship publications such as Fogelman Focus and Memphis Law magazine.

Up until October 2024, I served as the Director of Marketing and Communications at Epicenter, where I led brand design and produced branded content in support of entrepreneurs across the Greater Memphis region. Before Epicenter, I worked on the eleventh floor of Ogilvy & Mather as a hybrid designer and art director, contributing to work for brands like Motorola, Nationwide, American Express, and Gerber.

As a self-taught designer, I’ve developed into a flexible creative who adapts quickly—whether that means illustrating, designing for print and web, or leading complex design initiatives that require close collaboration with outside designers and creative partners.
